A Week of Giveaways - Day 5

And so we come to the last day of my week of giveaways. I should probably have said it was a 5 day week giveaway but I forgot. I'm sorry if you expected two more days, hopefully todays prize will be worth it.
The photo is not very good but what you have here is 2 meters of grey leopard chiffon fabric (exact contents unknown). I bought this very early in my sewing journey when I was still unaware of different fabrics and how easy or not it is to work with them. Lately I have also been thinking about what patterns and fabrics and textures I like to see on other people and those I like wearing myself. I'm also thinking hard about my own style and what style I want to work towards. Chiffon, aside from possible being a nightmare to sew, is not on my list of preferred fabrics and although I love animal prints, grey is possibly my least favourite. So it's up for grabs.

To enter this giveaway is simple:
1) You have to be a follower on my blog
2) Leave a comment on this post telling me what you would sew with this fabric
3) Very important, leave your email address. I had trouble in the past contacting people because not all profiles allow access to email.

The giveaway is open to my readers all over the world and deadline for entry is Sunday 26th June 2011, 6pm GMT time. Winner will be announced the following day.

Good Luck!!

  1. Ooh, I love leopard print but I don't think it suits me in its actual colours. The grey leopard print is a different matter :) I think I would underline it (though not sure in what colour) and make it into a simple dress to show off the print. Perhaps with some hot pink accents to make it pop.

  2. Hmmm I think this would make a lovely floaty top, possibly a sorbetto, with some contrast bias tape around the edges to add a bit of colour. My email is Thanks for a great week of giveaways :)

  3. I think it would be a great jacket, bag or maybe even a dress!

  4. Pussy bow blouse :) Have had my eye on pussy-bow blouses in animal prints for a while!

  5. Suzy - happy (belated now) Birthday and Blog Anniversary and thanks for the very generous giveaway week!

This is such a gorgeous fabric - but I know what you mean about sewing with Chiffon. Because of that, I think I would keep the item simple, perhaps like Kat suggested, a Sorbetto top. And since it's a generous 2 meters, I think I would try and squeeze a floaty skirt out of it too!

  6. Chiffon, depending on the weight, can make a great scarf, wrap, or shawl. With two yards... maybe a great skirt? Oooh... no, maybe a top like others have said... oh, wait... lots of ideas! (I actually don't mind sewing with chiffon. Yes, I'm odd.)

  7. It will be a great dress with red shows I think.. bernasagun at gmail dot com

  8. That fabric is amazing! I love leopard print but don't often come across it in grey. Hmmm, I think it would look nice as a maxi dress, mixed with solid greys and blacks to give it length and a little patchwork "Country Drag Queen" flare. :) Happy belated birthday and thanks for the fabulous giveaway.

  9. Hi there. I'd make this up into a pussy bow, cut in sleeve blouse that I would wear with my khaki palazzo or red flares.

  10. Oh, that is lovely! I love leopard print. I would make this:
    View A.

  11. I love animal prints! I'd probably make a Vogue Designer pattern like V1223:

    or V1207:

    or better yet V1190 :

There are just too many cute Vogues to count (like 1086, 1158, 1206, 1153, 1160...)

  12. Because I wear black and gray a LOT, I would totally make an ankle lenght skirt out of it to wear over my black or gray long skirts.
