A Week of Giveaways - Day 2

Thank you for the birthday and anniversary wishes! And how exciting to read all your comments about the 1980s! I have to say there is little I like about the decade. I fell victim to its fashion partly, as I was to young to dress by myself or choose my own clothes, but have to say towards the end of the decade my older cousin looked so fashionable to me. Big hair, leggings, the whole thing. I'm glad I didn't fall victim to it!

Todays giveaway is a modern one. Vogue 8557 is a "Misses blouse(...)with sleeve variations" and it's part of the Very Easy Vogue range.
The pattern is brand new, still in factory folds, size (8-10-12-14). I was attracted to this pattern because of the cute puffed sleeves and at the time of purchase also got Vogue 8476, as it features a similar puffed sleeve design, but with a different collar. The reality is now that Colette Patterns have come up with Violet I doubt I will use this pattern. So it's up for grabs!

To enter this giveaway is simple:
1) You have to be a follower on my blog
2) Leave a comment on this post telling me what your experience with shirt making is, or if you have never sewn one.
3) Very important, leave your email address. I had trouble in the past contacting people because not all profiles allow access to email.

The giveaway is open to my readers all over the world and deadline for entry is Sunday 26th June 2011, 6pm GMT time. Winner will be announced the following day.

Good Luck!!

  2. The only blouse I've made is my birdy blouse. I chickened out on doing a proper collar so chose a view that only used the stand. It went well, and the stand actually went on with just one hitch - I ran out of bobbin thread!!
I really like this blouse pattern, if I win it'll give me a chance to try a real collar! :)

  4. Okaaay, internet just ate my comment!!!

So, my most memorable early-days-of-sewing blouse was actually a knockoff of a college friend's white shirt. It had pintuck/outside darts all around to define the waist. I had the perfect Burda magazine Petite shirt as a starting point, it was just too similar!!!

And I was sure I was already a follower because I know I've visited your blog before today.

  5. I've sewn lots of blouses through the years (back, oh, 35 years ago I used to make shirts for my (now ex) husband, but never one with that type of construction- the seam that goes all the way up to the shoulder. It looks like it might be a good one for easy altering for fit- something I always have to do.

I've been following via RSS on My Yahoo page.

  6. Well, I've never sewn a blouse yet, so I'm hoping this one will be my first! (Let's hope it really is "Very Easy"!)

  8. I've yet to sew a shirt or blouse, I need to have a go as I want a longline white blouse to go over summer vest and can't find a decent one I like in the shops. I'm a sucker for big sleeves ( I think we've had this conversation before!) and am wondering if the princess seams would alleviate my full bust - gaping buttons problem with shirts, so would love the chance to win. Thanks Suzy!

  9. Although I've made shirts before I'm never very confident with collars so I usually avoid them!
